EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

HOW TO BOOK
  • The face to face session dates / venues are listed above - the class would be limited to 12 as per HSE guidelines.  The duration is approximately 3.5 hours - either a morning or afternoon session.
  • Select the session that suits you, each date and time is a direct link to that course booking.  You will be taken to our BookWhen booking page.  Please contact our office if you are a member of The BAcC, AAC, JAMA, BAF for your discount code PRIOR to booking.  Discounts cannot be added retrospectively.
  • If the course you have booked is within the next 6 weeks, once you have paid for your place you will be emailed a link and joining instructions for the online section. This MUST be completed prior to your face to face session.
  • If the course you have booked on is more than 6 weeks away, you will receive confirmation of payment and then the online course link will be sent on the Sunday 6 weeks prior to your chosen face to face session.
BLENDED LEARNING
  • Part 1 - this is the online theory session and is a 3.5 hour (equivalent) interactive theory session utilising video clips, self-assessment, notes and fact-sheets.  With the interactive theory session, you can complete the course in your own time and at your own pace, to fit around your other commitments.  This course must be completed in the 6 weeks BEFORE your booked face-to-face session.
  • Part 2 - this is the practical session and is 3.5 hours in duration.  By completing the online session first this enables you to re-visit any questions that have come up in the interim with one of our experienced instructors.  This then enables the class to focus on the practical elements of the course.

    THE ONLINE SESSION (Part 1) MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN A 6 WEEK WINDOW BEFORE THE FACE-TO-FACE (Part 2) SESSION. If you attend the practical session without having completed the online session you will not be allowed to attend Part 2 and would have to re-book another course - with no refund.

    Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

    In 2009 this 1-day course was introduced for candidates wishing to practice First Aid at Work but where the first-aid needs assessment identified that the 3-day First Aid at Work qualification was not required.  Where there are special circumstances such as shift work, sites with several buildings, or members of public on site, there may be a requirement to  have more first aid personnel.  In addition provision will need to be increased to allow cover for absences (e.g. sick and / or holidays).

    The EFAW training enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill at work. The course covers:

    • The breathing, unresponsive casualty and the recovery position;
    • The non-breathing, unresponsive casualty, including resuscitation and use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED);
    • Bleeding control, Burns and the management of a shocked patient;
    • Management of the choking patient and some common causes of asphyxia
    • Recognition and management of a variety of medical conditions including fits, diabetes and strokes.

    On successful completion of the full course (comprising of both an online session (Part 1) and the face-to-face practical session (Part 2) the candidate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years and will be recognised as a "First Aider" under the "HSE (First Aid) Regulations 1981".
